BRIAN HOUSTON’S “CORRECTIONS”

Brian Houston: “the Muslim and you, we actually serve the same God”
Pastor Matthew Johnston of Riverbend Bible Church and lecturer at ‘The Shepherds’ Bible College’ recently tweeted the following to Brian Houston:

@iMatthewJ @hillsong Yes it is what came out but No it’s not what I meant Meant that Islam descends from one of Abraham’s sons.. Ishmael.

Furthermore, Brian Houston seems to have published on our website and various YouTube video comment sections the following “correction”:
I wanted to address the issue directly myself and agree that the statement was indeed clumsy in the moment and did not clearly communicate my intention. I was simply making the point that Christians and Muslims both believe that the God of Abraham is their God. I apologise for any confusion and obviously my allegiance is to the Lord Jesus Christ alone.
We are very grateful that Brian Houston has decided to take the time to be responsible over his error and send out “corrections”. However, we will need to address these “corrections” in a separate article. Especially when you see confused comments from Christians under his correction.

It has concerned us that Hillsong and C3 members who have tuned into this controversy on various social media websites are also confused on this. Some Hillsong and C3 members believe that the Islam and Christian God are the same.
This should not be a surprise to anyone considering these ‘ministries’ are secular institutions that tolerate anything but biblical Christianity. It concerns us that Christians are more upset about Brian’s tiny statement and not offended with his sermon that twisted every single scripture for his own purposes.
It’s the equivalent of Christians complaining about a speck of salt in a saltwater pond, thinking that the pond is offering fresh water.
From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so. Does a spring pour forth from the same opening both fresh and salt water? Can a fig tree, my brothers, bear olives, or a grapevine produce figs? Neither can a salt pond yield fresh water. James 3:10-12

While Houston offered corrections to his statement, Chris Rosebrough from Fighting for the Faith recently reviewed and corrected Brian Houston’s controversial statement around the issue of Muslims and Christians serving the same God.

Hillsong Church Watch 
Brian Houston is a lyer! During the Hillsong Christmas Carols in Dec 2013 he played a video of muslims talking about Jesus Isa. Most of the church didn’t get it but I definetly heard them say Jesus ISA. Isa did not die on the cross, denies he’s Gods son and comes back to slaughter Christians and Jews. Brian is just being sneaky and introducing Chrislam one bit at a time. He lives in the pocket of Rick Warren who is so evil and part of the one world religion. God help us from being deceived.
Hello, your articles really interesting, I do not criticize Hillsong, not defend them. I hear his music, I agree that modern rhythms using, but strikes me that in his last productions used a lot of symbolism, such as the triangle, they say the “trinity” “Mount Zion” but I does not convince me at all, really representing? What do you think about that?
We have no problem with contemporary music. We have no problem with Christians writing powerful worship songs. However, we do have a problem when it is under the Hillsong label.
We did an article where we exposed that Hillsong was using their music to indoctrinate Christians with their prosperity gospel.
We will be doing an article in the future that will look at how they use their music to brainwash the youth into embracing really secular ideas under the guide of a Christian message. This should raise concern to any Christian who likes their music. Some churches in Australia have boycotted Hillsong music in protest due to the corrupt motivations behind the Hillsong music industry.
