Brian Houston: “the Muslim and you, we actually serve the same God”
Brian Houston & Chris Rosebrough Offering Corrections
Thank you Brian Houston for your response but please clarify further
Brian Houston’s silence is deafening. Recently, Chris Rosebrough explained why,

His lack of further clarification is actually confirming our suspicions that Brian Houston is pushing a secular agenda to expand his own personal Hillsong empire and his master’s domain. He has given us enough evidence to suspect this to be true.
For a long time now, Hillsong has not been showing the signs of tolerating the Christian gospel, the proper handling of God’s Word nor tolerating Christians who try to correct those in error the way the bible instructs them to do so. Will Hillsong remain God’s Church or the People’s Church?
If secularism is against Christianity, then a secular church is also against Christianity.
Reading this blog reminds me exactly of what the Bible talks about in 1 Corinthians when it says “without love I am only a clanging cymbal…” Why would anyone want to be a Christian when this is how they treat each other? “By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:35
Hi Troy,
“Same god just different views” was tweeted by one of Brian Houston’s defenders.
He understood what Brain said (in context) and it was plainly wrong.
Does truth matter? Can you love without truth?
This serve-same-god video shouldn’t have been posted in the first place, and I find it more loving that people took the time with this blog to ensure people knew that it was wrong. Otherwise it would still be up, Brian wouldn’t have made the correction and there would have been more people affected wrongly. From a of theological viewpoint, it is a win-win. A bruised ego is the only ego.
What do you think are the the ramifications of “same god, different views” as a theology?
The soft sell of Christianty is increasingly compromising the Gospel message (God is not just loving, He is also holy and just and judgment has been passed/is coming). We do need a place for public discussion as it won’t happen in most churches where any question is normally seen as dissent.
When is it more loving to make a stand for the truth than to be “nice” and say nothing (and leave the error grow like a cancer in people’s lives)?
@ Troy – Reading this blog reminds me exactly of what the bible talks about in Acts 17:10-15
Paul and Silas at Berea: “The brothers immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea, and when they arrived they went into the Jewish synagogue. Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so. Many of them therefore believed, with not a few Greek women of high standing as well as men. But when the Jews from Thessalonica learned that the word of God was proclaimed by Paul at Berea also, they came there too, agitating and stirring up the crowds. Then the brothers immediately sent Paul off on his way to the sea, but Silas and Timothy remained there. Those who conducted Paul brought him as far as Athens, and after receiving a command for Silas and Timothy to come to him as soon as possible, they departed.”
No matter who the teacher is, we are to investigate all teaching in comparison with the Bible.

“We’ve issued a Berean Advisory to warn people about the dangers of Brian Houston of Hillsong Church in Sydney, Australia. Below you will find resources that will help you understand why we believe Houston’s teaching is dangerous and should be avoided by all Christians. Mature believers should also take the time to understand the nature of Houston’s false teaching so that they may be ready to explain to less mature believers why Houston should be avoided. Your assignment, as a good Berean, is to listen to, watch and read the resources below with an open Bible. The resources are as follows: Three sermon reviews from the Fighting for the Faith Radio program analyzing the content of Houston’s preaching and the way in which he twists the scriptures, Two videos by Justin Peters that explain the Word of Faith Heresy and provide an in depth Biblical refutation of it, Recommended books that will help you better understand the dangers of the Word of Faith Heresy and how to Biblically refute it.”
Brian is no longer silent on this issue. Here’s a link to his official clarification from his Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/brianandbobbie/posts/687787931279559?stream_ref=10
The sad part about his clarification is that he’s blaming his critics for all his woes.
Now Chris Rosebrough can apologise for telling Brian Houston to, bizarrely, put a retraction on “the Mars Hill website”. Facebook is surely more appropriate than the website of another church.
Or did Rosebrough simply say the wrong thing, as his current total obsession is Mark Driscoll, so he was thinking Mark Driscoll and Mars Hill while talking about Brian Houston and Hillsong. Rosebrough made a mistake, as did Brian Houston. Because we are all human.
@ Newtaste – a slip certainly, Chris was covering Mark Driscoll in his next segment. However you can hardly compare the two “mistakes”, that’s a bit disingenuous.
I asked Chris if he’s going to address Houston’s “official clarification” on his program, and agree with Chris that “the sad part about his clarification is that he’s blaming his critics for all his woes.”
I asked you once before, Newtaste, why do you have issues with Phil Pringle yet can easily align yourself (maybe not align, perhaps defend would be a better word) with Brian Houston?
There’s so little space between the two theologically. They are certainly and suddenly showing a united front lately, wonder why I ask wryly?
There’s really no excuse defending either gentlemen when it comes to their eisegetical preaching. Once we all start behaving like true Bereans and compare them BOTH to the biblical texts they claim to have such spiritual insight into, the scales might just fall off.
The saddest thought of all though is that these men may be God’s judgement against the church today, and perhaps a fulfillment of Amos 8:11-12…..
“Behold, days are coming,” declares the Lord God,
“When I will send a famine on the land,
Not a famine for bread or a thirst for water,
But rather for hearing the words of the Lord.
“People will stagger from sea to sea
And from the north even to the east;
They will go to and fro to seek the word of the Lord,
But they will not find it.”
Berean, I posted this on another site four years. It was my visit to C3 Oxford Falls for Andrew Kubala’s Believe TV.
” In mid May I went to a recording of a proposed television program. Reality TV where God heals the sick, and we believe. The ‘star’ of the show was a pastor who is on the staff of one of the well known Pentecostal churches in Sydney. (Not Hillsong). The recording/ healing service started at 11:00 am one Monday morning … and it was all pretty dodgy.
After some worship, the pastor asked for people who had sore backs, sore arms and ringing in the ears etc to raise their hands, so they could be healed. He laid hands and prayed for each person, and then clicked his fingers indicating that was when the Holy Spirit was doing the healing. It was like he was performing a magic trick. Appropriately, everyone compliantly was ‘slain in the spirit’ and fell backwards to be lowered to the carpet by his assistant. He then asked if they were healed and if they said the ringing was only partly gone
or pain was still there he prayed for them again. They pretty much all said they were totally healed.
Then I put my hand up. I am deaf in my left and have ringing in my right ear. I told the pastor this and he laid hands on my head and started praying for me. I could already feel the Holy
Spirit in me and continued to feel the Holy Spirit when the pastor prayed. He then clicked his fingers and claimed the healing was happening. I felt no different and told him so. So he prayed for me again, clicked his fingers for the healing to happen (I was believing for healing and could feel the Holy Spirit), I still had the
ringing in one ear & still deaf in the other. I stood there and thought there is no way I am going to fake this and pretend I’m healed and fall backwards
to floor. With no success he asked me to sit back down in my chair and pray for myself and that he would come back to me – needless to say he didn’t pray for me again.
A while later a man puts his hand up – he has ringing in his ears. The pastor says it is his father-in-law. The father-in-law has had the ringing for many years, and there is some joking that the pastor had better get him healed etc. He prays for him, clicking
fingers as the ‘spirit’ works. The
father-in-law says it is partially gone. He prays again, ringing is almost gone. He prays a third time, father-in- law falls to the carpet all healed! It was similar when the mother-in-law
put her hand up for her long-standing bad shoulder – all healed after praying. The pastor seemed totally ignorant of the parents-in-law’s medical conditions. The pastor and his wife have been married for over ten years, and presumably he would see the parents-in-law on some sort of regular basis. The pastor claims he is a faith healer
– and the parents-in-law would know this as his wife is part of his ministry. So why wouldn’t he have asked them years before if they needed prayer for healing. Why wouldn’t they have asked him for healing. Why not pray for them 5 years ago at home? It all
seemed like a con job.
At the side of the auditorium that day were three women in wheel chairs. At no time during the recording did the pastor ask them to wheel over so they could walk back. No, they were only prayed for at the end after the
recording when everyone was prayed for, after which they wheeled themselves out.
As it was ending the pastor drew our attention to the partner envelope on the seats. He said they don’t ask the churches they visit for money and won’t ask for money on the TV show, but asked us to consider partnering with him and donating $50 or $100 a week to his ministry. Needless to say I didn’t give him any money.
I will never go back to that Church after that – that was my one and only visit. The head pastor at the church has a shiny little art gallery where they sell the head pastor’s paintings –, it is just over the top for what is
supposed to be part of a church
complex.
God does heal. I believe and know He does. There may well have been people healed that day at that recording. But I also know that something was not right that day. And what I witnessed is what sometimes gives Christianity a bad name. ”
That’s why I don’t like C3 and Phil Pringle. I note that Andrew Kubala is again performing a second rate magic show at C3 Oxford Falls and City on Sunday week. That Pringle and C3 continues to allow Kubala to be associated with C3 shows a lack of discernment.
Kubala was inexplicably invited to lead a breakout “healing service” at Hillsong Conference a couple of years ago. It was a farce and a joke, and I’ve noticed that Kubala hasn’t been invited back.
This site is sick. You guys should be embarrassed… One day YOU will be judged for misleading people and NOT Pastor Brian Houston.
As a blind man could tell he is an anointed man of God, and if anyone is to be compared with the great apostle Paul, it certainly is Pastor Houston.
Look at the crowds he has turned to Jesus and still is.
I know this man and have known him for years… His reward in heaven is huge… But let me ask, what is yours…?
Wake up! This site/blog is a joke.
Don’t waste your time on earth.
Follow Pastor Houston’s example: LEAD PEOPLE TO CHRIST!!
Are you comparing the holyApostle Paul to Brian houston? That is bizarre. You need to read more about the Apostle Paul [ celibate, took no money, tortured, prisons, hungry and no home…but he had Jesus Christ AND His Word] and then compare it to houston…I don’t think you will find ANY resemblance. What ‘exactly’ is his reward in Heaven? You said ‘it’s huge’..what could it be?
My advice..Lead people back to the Holy Bible and the BIBLICAL Jesus Christ…not all this corporate, merchandised nonsense.
@ Newtaste – thanks for that. I remember reading your story elsewhere. Signposts02 perhaps?
Someone posted a testimony about Janine Kubala on C3CW. This girl asked to speak to her after the service and explain the gospel. Now from memory this girl was testing Janine and later contacted her for an explanation via email several times with no response. It wasn’t until she changed tactics and said she wanted to donate money to their ministry – she received an immediate response.
Perhaps the administrator of this blog could help me out, and retrieve/repost the link to that story here?
I do believe God heals today too, however not through men like this. We’ve seen wonderful answers to prayer in the last 7 years in a small Anglican church, more then we ever saw in 22 years at C3. We come before Him with our requests, we pray for one another, there’s no “smoke & mirrors” or leg-pulling. Some are healed, sadly some die. All in His perfect hands.
Newtaste – if you listen to the link http://vimeo.com/89512591 you will here Phil Pringle saying around the 18 min mark that he would prefer Andrew Kubala to pray for the sick rather than himself. It’s a pretty poor demonstration of a true shepherd’s heart. So you have my complete sympathy.
In saying that, do you see a theological difference between Pringle and Houston?
I remember that story as well. A. Kubala said he stole keys for a chapel, Janine Kubala in one of her ‘sermons’ said she gave her soul to Satan, Phil Pringle dropped LSD and battled a ‘fear demon’, Brian Houston gives ‘christian’ ‘relationship’ advice after a LONG silence of his fathers’ ‘problems’…bobbie houston reveals kingdom women love sex…Does ANYONE actually believe that these people ‘teach’ you REAL BIBLICAL CHRISTIANITY?
