At Hillsong, people look up to their leaders. They watch their leaders defend themselves from “critics”. They watch their leaders defend pagan movies from “religious” people. And now they defend non-Christians from “narrow-minded religious” people. It seems odd that Barbie and Brian Houston seem to defend anything but the bible. Funny that.
Recently, Russell Crowe tweeted the following,
Getting a stack of buzzed texts and emails from friends and family who attended the #Noah premiere in Sydney.

Barbie Houston decided to tweet the following response (because clearly Russell’s tweet was about critics),
@russellcrowe Hey Mr Crowe — don’t be disheartened by the narrow-minded religious. I love God and we think you are amazing. #noah 🙂

If that wasn’t enough, Barbie Houston decided to post the following.
Just saw NOAH for 2nd time. Personally I think it’s great. It’s an “action packed HOLLYWOOD movie” and may well open wonderful conversations with people. So enjoy it for what it is. Actors & cinematography amazing! #noah #xox
Her comment is insulting to Christians worldwide. In response to someone saying, “Not expecting a bible study from hollywood but i didn’t expect this either”, Barbie wrote,
@gkeehan —- well we are all different eh. I saw Noah’s wrestle as a “wrestle within himself”. As if any one of us wouldn’t wrestle with such a mammoth task and traumatizing experience. I doubt that anyone in our world is changing their beliefs about the NOAH bible account to match the screenplay. And it’s always an opportunity to open your bible with unchurched friends or family and explain the REAL STORY.

“I doubt that anyone in our world is changing their beliefs about the NOAH bible account to match the screenplay.” Really Bobbie? Then who said this?
“The funny thing about people is that they consider Noah to be a benevolent figure. You know, because he looked after the animals.
“Awwwe! Noah and the animals!” It’s like, are you kidding me? This is a dude that stood by and watched the entire population of the planet perish! He’s not benevolent. He’s not even- he’s not even nice! You know what I mean? At one point in the story his son says, “I thought that you were chosen because you were good”. And he [Noah] goes, “I was chosen, cos I can get the job done, mate.”
So I think people are gonna be- ah- judging from where their questions come from, I think they’re gonna be quite surprised what Noah actually really means. What it means to be in that position.”

Some people believe lies Bobby.
It is the Christians biblical duty to defend their faith and how their God is presented to a fallen world. The last thing we expected was you to endorse a movie that attacks the righteousness of God, His character, his Word, his name and his gospel and to promote a growing hatred against the Christian faith.
For many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears, walk as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things.” Philippians 3:18-19
why are you guys so bothered about everything hillsong say? they are a word of faith, motivational speaking church even dumb and dumber know this.
why do you waste so much of your time, talking about them in your blogs. so you dont like what they stand for, so why give them the time and day?
isnt there any other churches you can write about, hope city church audacious church, life church bradford, equippers church, planetshakers church.
there are so many other churches like hillsong, why are you giving them so much airtime?
“why do you waste so much of your time,”
We get emails from many people thanking us for our work. It’s nice to know we are leading people out of the Hillsong cult and into the truth. You can’t call that time wasting.
“talking about them in your blogs. so you dont like what they stand for, so why give them the time and day?”
because they are dangerous and are causing much damage to the Christian faith. people are wanting us to monitor other churches. atm, we are monitoring the worst in Australia.
well if people benefit from it, i cant disagree with that. you say you are monitoring the worst churches in Australia. then please check out the Planet shakers church in Melbourne.
i was a part of Hillsong London for 10 years, i left last December because i was sick and tired of the pastors saying no christian should be in poverty. how can we help someone in poverty if we are in poverty ourselves.
we are blessed to be a blessing. i was sick and tired of hearing if i wasn’t blessed or prospering or being successful. i had a lack of faith, i had unbelief, i had sin in my life, there was a generational curse in my life, that was stopping me from moving forward and moving on wards and upwards.
“why give them the time and day?” You mean the time OF day?
Read my comment below Mrhatch
Seriously wondering how on earth @bobbiehouston presumed Russell Crowe was “disheartened by the narrow-minded religious.” from his tweet !?!?!?!
Her follow-on “I love God and we think you are amazing.” sounds like a love-sick immature teenager waiting to see her favourite pop-star.
Would someone (please Lord) take “twittering” away from these wacky pastrixes before they further embarrass themselves and the body of Christ.
Sheesh! This reminds me of fisher-wives’ ‘she-said-she-said’ gossipy put-down-over-the-garden-fence talk. There’s a word for it starting with ‘b’, but it ain’t Berean!
“There’s a word for it starting with ‘b’, but it ain’t Berean!”
Bobbie? Brian?
Nah! They don’t wag their tails at the sniff of a juicy piece of gossip!
Not really interested in the Noah-lite movie with Russell Crowe. Sounds a bit like a Shamanistic Hollywood Green Warmist doomsday bean-shoot to me, but what’s with the personal slap-downs on Bobbie Houston? Is it really necessary?
Ïs the word “Beacon” …Because CW and many other hillsong exposers are a guiding and warning signal against false teachers/ female pastors[ no such thing as a female pastor according to the Holy Word of God] like bobbie? Sorry you’re upset but another ‘sisterhood’ conference should calm you down.
Gordy/Facelift/Steve managing to master the art of “ad hominem”.
Actually ad hominem (or is it ad womanem?), sounds something like…

Can you feel the love?
Is ‘gordy/facelift’ a ‘sweet-man’ from the U.S.?
@ thetruth – no, just a former C3 pastor/cyber-bully with too many pseudonyms to keep count (and you just have to “admire” the hypocrisy of someone who constantly complains about people not using their own names!)
Someone who hangs around a few blogs attacking people who leave churches (i.e. C3/Hillsong) for biblical reasons. He’s focused on one or two but lately it must getting harder for him to decide who to “attack” with so many more now speaking up about their own experiences.
It’s never the fault of these churches apparently, the ex-congregants are the problem.
May I suggest it’s the Holy Spirit he’s really attacking, as His sheep hear His voice and follow His leading away from false teachers, false prophets and false doctrine?
I feel sorry for him….
Keep up the good work guys, you ministry is much needed in today’s context. Worked as a full time pastor @ hillsong/Brisbane before I decided to resign when saw by myself what they are all about…
Be assured of prayers and support!
“Barbie Houston”. Mature. Maybe if this blog wasn’t so childish and petty and wrote from a place of love as the Bible instructs, people would take your “reports” more seriously.
Do you think the Holy Apostles would even put up with her, even for ONE DAY as a representative of the Holy Bible or Christianity?
““Barbie Houston”. Mature.’
Quite right, Troy – no one should refer to to Mrs Houston as “Barbie”; it’s very insulting to dolls everywhere.
Too Funnny Ken, Love it.
Poor old bobbie..”I “love…and “we think”…Where is the ‘we’..in ‘I’..? Never learnt her inglish gramma proplee?
I’ve not seen the movie nor do I intend too. Now @mrhatch, I for one applaud Hillsong Church Watch and and Church watcher for what they do. This organisation has helped me see that the movement i was attending was just a mini Hillsong. I struggled with it for nearly 2 years, unable to pluck up the courage to leave. It seriously feels like leaving a cult, it really does. After prayer and the Bible based advice i received i was able to leave and I am now attending a church where they preach Christ crucified and not a church that tells me “Five ways to make you finances work for you”. So Keep up the fight, call out the false prophets and teachers and continue this work.
@ Chris – it’s been seven years and one of the hardest thing to acknowledge is the “feeling like leaving a cult”. We were part of C3 (not Hillsong) for 22 years so the de-programming is still ongoing. Then there’s family members still involved, those same family members acknowledging the big problems but locked into the very well-done community aspect of these mega campuses. Tempted with suggestions of “you could run the business” one day? Something wicked this way comes…..
What’s interesting is seeing these celebrity CEO pastors finally being held up to public scrutiny and the sheep(le) are waking up. . Fascinating to watch Brian Houston and Phil Pringle “circle the wagons” as they join forces to fight the “critics” who oppose the “vision-casting” agendas they try so hard to achieve at the expense of the congregations. And in deceiving they are deceived.
Week by week we see young families turning up at our “small” congregation where they hear a faithful minster “preach Christ crucified and not a church that tells me “Five ways to make your finances work for you”.
Week by week we hear of young parents sending their children to youth groups in small traditional churches that don’t push “leadership” roles and unbiblical practices on every newcomer, but simply teach the Bible allowing the Holy Spirit to draw them to Himself through that pure Word.
Week by week we see prayers answered.
Week by week we rejoice as He builds His church and look forward to His glorious return, safe in the knowledge he will lose none that the Father has given Him.
So what is your verdict on “Evan Almighty”? Did the story stray too far from the biblical story of Noah? Was is acceptable that God was depicted as a black man? Or do you prefer the old white man version of God, as in “Oh, God!”?
particular movies are promoted as being comedy/parodies. At no stage was it promoted as the real story. We have Brian houston, bobbie houston AND Pat Mesiti telling their ‘fellow christians’….that this movie is great if you dont mind the true, religious [Biblical] story. As for bobbie and brian fawning over Rusty Crowe…well that is just a hunger for celebrity status, typical hillsong. Whatever happened to : “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him”. 1 John 2:15.
Additionally the hillsongsters don’t seem to realise that it is NOT the portrayal of physical characteristics of Noah or even Lord Jesus Christ in these ‘movies’, it is FALSELY attributing to them that were not said or done, especially if it fails to mention that the Bible truth in it is purely coincidental.
Bobbie also mentions what a great way to meet the unchurched and show them the real Biblical story..GREAT..so we tell people a LIE then the truth?
If as bobbie says: “I love God”, then why does she DEFY God and Holy Scripture by calling herself a ‘pastor’ when it is NOT accepted in the Bible for a woman to do this? AND organise ‘conferences’ with numerous other women ‘pastors’ !
Hillsong have just about thrown the whole Bible away and are being very public with their ignorance of Holy Scripture and their love of the world. No wonder it is registered as a Corporation..it is NOWHERE near being a ‘church’.
Just saw the ‘noah’ movie. How B.Houston could actually watch this TWICE just leaves me shaking my head. His comment: “And may well open wonderful conversations with people”, leaves me to wonder how on earth i will explain to non-christians ‘rock monsters’..yes rock monsters building the Ark for Noah, being drugged and seeing visions, and hideaways on the Ark. Most probably the silliest thing i have ever seen.
Rusty Crowe was good but i was disappointed, with him being an australian actor, that the Kangaroos didnt get a business class seat in the Ark.
@ Newtaste – the director/writer Aronofsky said the only thing biblical about the movie are the names. It’s celebrity pastors who are trying to imply something “spiritual” or “salvific” can be gained from it.
Perhaps it would be better called “Noah the Barbarian” with Arnie Schwarzenegger guest starring as Methuselah (much as I usually love anything starring Anthony Hopkins). Then we could enjoy the movie for the complete fantasy it is.
And now of course there’s this…….Bobbie Houston on twitter and Instagram. From an unqualified pastrix who can’t seem to find security in sola scriptura.

“Very grateful to watch a pre-screening of HEAVEN IS FOR REAL film. Oh my. Beautiful. Inspiring. Delightful. Moving. Cried. Smiled. Thoroughly recommend. AND AMAZING HOW GOD IS TRULY speaking to hearts from all angles” #forsuchatimeasthis #releasedEaster
Excellently reviewed by Tim Challies:
“If you struggle believing what the Bible says, but learn to find security in the testimony of a toddler, well, I feel sorry for you. And I do not mean this in a condescending way. If God’s Word is not sufficient for you, if the testimony of his Spirit, given to believers, is not enough for you, you will not find any true hope in the unproven tales of a child. This hope may last for a moment, but it will not sustain you, it will not bless you, in those times when hope is waning and times are hard.”
http://www.challies.com/book-reviews/heaven-is-for-real
Someone gave me the books by Todd Burpo, Don Piper and Choo Thomas a couple of years ago. I can accept that they probably all had dreams. But the Burpo book should be classed as children’s fiction and the Thomas book is a laugh a minute comedy. Haven’t read the Piper book, just reading the blurb on the back cover was enough for me. I have read slabs of when Jesse Duplantis claims he had a meeting with Jesus.
None of it is believable. I believe Jesus, not any these stories where people want to elevate themselves to a level above everyone else, and claim and brag about some special relationship they reckon they have with God. Thomas stated that God chose her to deliver a new message, the Burpo book wants to tell us that Heaven and Jesus really are for real just because Colton supposedly went there – both implying that the word of God, the words of Jesus, are not sufficient. But they are.
@ Newtaste – absolutely in agreement. Just now reading this paragraph from John Macarthur’s book “The Glory of Heaven”…
“For anyone who truly believes the biblical record, it is impossible to resist the conclusion that these modern testimonies—with their relentless self-focus and the relatively scant attention they pay to the glory of God—are simply untrue. They are either figments of the human imagination (dreams, hallucinations, false memories, fantasies, and in the worst cases, deliberate lies), or else they are products of demonic deception.
We know this with absolute certainty, because Scripture definitively says that people do not go to heaven and come back: “Who has ascended to heaven and come down?” (Proverbs 30:4). Answer: “No one has ascended into heaven except he who descended from heaven, the Son of Man” (John 3:13, emphasis added). All the accounts of heaven in Scripture are visions, not journeys taken by dead people. And even visions of heaven are very, very rare in Scripture. You can count them all on one hand.”
From the same article by Phil Johnson:
“Only four authors in all the Bible were blessed with visions of heaven and wrote about what they saw: the prophets Isaiah and Ezekiel, and the apostles Paul and John. Two other biblical figures—Micaiah and Stephen—got glimpses of heaven, but what they saw is merely mentioned, not described (2 Chronicles 18:18; Acts 7:55). As Pastor MacArthur points out, all of these were prophetic visions, not near-death experiences. Not one person raised from the dead in the Old or New Testaments ever recorded for us what he or she experienced in heaven. That includes Lazarus, who spent four days in the grave.
Specifically, they have relinquished the principle of sola Scriptura and lost their confidence in the sufficiency of Scripture. Why else would they turn from clear biblical teaching on heaven and seek an alternative view in mystical experiences that bear no resemblance to what Scripture tells us?
This trend away from biblical authority was even noted earlier this week by a secular reporter in The New York Post. Consider the implications of this quotation:
Lynn Vincent, who ghost-wrote “Heaven is for Real” on behalf of the young boy Colton Burpo and his father, said that she was initially reluctant to include Colton’s description of people in heaven having wings. “If I put that people in Heaven have wings, orthodox Christians are going to think that the book is a hoax.” She did and they didn’t.
Evangelical readers’ discernment skills are at an all-time low, and that is why books like these proliferate. Despite the high profile, high sales figures, and high dollar amounts Christian publishers can milk from a trend such as this, it doesn’t bode well for the future of Christian publishing—or for the future of the evangelical movement.”
http://m.gty.org/blog/B121018
Makes me wonder what does Bobbie Houston stand to lose previewing and promoting these books and movies? At the very least her reputation among the more discerning evangelical community?
But then maybe not…..
2 Timothy 4:1-3 “I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires.”
The whole point people is that Brian and Bobbie bark at us all the time not to judge, be love, love, love, loving all the time BUT if a Christian states that something is wrong and is promoting the demonic they turn around and rip your jugular out!!! Calling us religious or narrow minded, THATS not being loving. I sat in a sermon late last year where Brian said we all have different moralities!!!! What, morals are morals, right is right and wrong is wrong. God’s clear on what he detests, eg sexual immorality and worshiping false gods eg the snake in Noah. Pushing us to accept homosexuals without helping them to change is DEMONIC. Pushing Chrislam at us during the Christmas spectacular is DEMONIC. Saying Jehovah is the same as Allah is DEMONIC. (He knew what he said, it wasn’t a mistake), Seeing Brians son and the youth at Hillsong church New York dressed up in demonic halloween clothing is DEMONIC. Seeing the film Noah promote Kabbalah New Age teachings that the serpent is really god is DEMONIC.
We are in the last days and the church can’t be naïve. Satan just loves a door into the church to corrupt it and they are opening the doors wide for him when they should be so careful to protect the sheep from evil. They’re not being good shepherds. I think its very WEIRD that they are turning against those who love God and God’s truth and Gods morals and YET they say NOTHING about what is evil and they are actually PROMOTING evil teachings to the sheep. This is not a joke. Its very very wicked. Jesus said you are to be HOLY as he is Holy. If they think being loving is for us all to shut up and ‘not judge anything’ and accept wickedness and go belly up to Satans deceptions then I want nothing of their version of ‘love’ cause accepting the demonic deceptions the devil is POURING out in the last days is not love.
Do you know where we can obtain that sermon where Brian attacks morality?
Well said.
Barbie Houston is trying to please the world and (her version of) God. That’s like trying to walk both sides of a barbed wire fence at the same time….. will finish in tears one way or the other.
Luke 6:24 “But woe to you who are rich,
For you have received your consolation.
25 Woe to you who are full,
For you shall hunger.
Woe to you who laugh now,
For you shall mourn and weep.
26 Woe to you when all men* speak well of you,
For so did their fathers to the false prophets.”
*including the world, unbelievers.
hillsong is a church, who is preaching mixed messages with al the different bible translations they use.
they use watered down and diluted paraphrase bibles like the message and the new living translation.
hillsong is more known for their praise and worship music, not for their preaching.
Hahaha this is so amusing to read. You Christians can’t even get along with each other. At least atheists agree with with one another. You don’t see us fighting with each other on blogs about not believing in god. You definitely aren’t making a case for conversion, but keep up the entertainment please!
Really Mark. I think you are mistaken, First, some atheists believe that religious talk fails to be meaningful i.e. there is no serious discussion to be had about, for example, the existence of God because one cannot even meaningfully deny the existence of God. Second, Other atheists have been concerned to develop alternative worldviews to the kinds of worldviews that are presented in the world’s religions, and in particular, many atheists have been concerned to develop naturalistic world views that leave no room for any kinds of supernatural entities. Third, some atheists have been interested in discussions of the ground rules for the arbitrations of debates between theists and non-theists, and in particular, some atheists have wanted to insist that there is an initial presumption in favour of atheism that leaves the theist opponents carrying the argumentative burden of proof. Fourth, many atheists have been concerned to raise objections against the plethora of theistic arguments that have been advanced in particular on behalf of the claim that God exists. Finally, some atheists have attempted to advance overarching critiques of religion, no merely theistic religion, in which even moderate religious belief is characterized as barbaric superstitions. So quite clearly Atheists DO NOT agree with each other.
“You Christians can’t even get along with each other.”
Christians do get along with each other. However, Hillsong doesn’t tolerate Christianity unless you believe their non-Christian beliefs. They hold to a different faith, different Jesus, different Spirit and different gospel.
@Mark ..Interesting theory. Atheists get along with each other”, well, that’s easy if you don’t believe in anything. As for Christians ‘not getting along’-that’s very ‘Hillsong’ but not Biblical reality, Christians have always defended their Biblical faith against watered down counterfeits as commanded.
spot on.
after looking at the about section of your website, i can see your concern about australian mega churches like hillsong and c3.
yet i still think there is far too much focus on hillsong and c3, these type of churches only exsist because christians want to hear this type of gospel.
christians want to hear god is going to bless them, god is going to prosper them, they are going to be successful whatever they put their hands to.
where does this type of gospel come from, the united states of america, all brian houston and phil pringle has done is take american ideas and added them to their churches.
their churches are american style churches, that are very influened by the success of rick warren saddleback, bill hybels willocreak, joel osteen lakewood and joseph prince new creation church singpore.
they are also very influenced by benny hinn, kenneth copeland, and morris cerrulo.
that is where the seeker friendly church movement come from isnt it, correct me if im wrong.
this is where you should be really pointing to america, not australia because america is to blame for the prosperity and blessings gospel.
because thats where this type of gospel comes from.
While this is kind of true, the US was also influenced with what was happening in Australia and New Zealand between 1960-1980.
Mostly correct but it doesn’t matter where the thing comes from, Frank, Brian and bobbie Houston as well as pringle C3 have personally CHOSEN to promote the false and worldly ‘version’ of God’s Word, and ignore the Holy Bible delivered ‘once and for all’ .
yes you are both right, i didnt know america was influenced by australia 1960-1990 i would love to know how, yet that is another discussion.
at least you guys along with jacob prasch of moriel ministries and martin nicodemus of end time call, are speaking out and taking a stand against all these charlatons who yes are ignoring the word of god for a worldly gospel.
