The visionary leadership model, the totalitarian church structures, the bullying, the intimidation, the betrayal, the queries into church financial mismanagement and the dishonesty.
We’re not talking about Brian Houston’s friends Phil Pringle and Kong Hee. We’re not even talking about Brian Houston’s friends Ed Young Jr or Steven Furtick.
We’re talking about Brian Houston’s latest guest speaker invited to Hillsong Conference 2015:
“Anyone interested in who some of the speakers are next year? We’ve got some different ones. We’ve got some different ones. Well let me tell you firstly, we’ve got Joseph Prince speaking from New Creation Church in Singapore. That’s going to be amazing. Some of the New Creation people up there. How cool is that!
So we’re looking forward to having Joseph back. Always a favourite. Always fills our heart with Jesus and with grace.
And then Rick Warren from Saddleback Church in California. He’s gonna be speaking. Author of Purpose Driven Life and pastor to pastors and uh- well Bill- ah, Rick was coming last year but of course with the tragedy in his life, he put that off. And so- now it’s going to be this coming year.
Then, a good favourite of Hillsong Church: Jentezin Franklin from Free Chapel Church, USA. Is going to be speaking.
And here’s one that’s different: Mark Driscoll from Mars Hill Church in Seattle, Washington, is going to be speaking next year at Hillsong Conference. And Mark’s a great teacher of the Word and be the first time here.
And I think it is gonna be a great eclectic mix which is what I love doing. I love bringing people together from all sections of the body of Christ. And it’s amazing how you put it all together and it just seems to work.”
Source: Brian Houston, Hillsong Conference 2014.
We are kind of curious. How is this going to work? These “teachers” will either be pretending to get along with each other in “unity” or diplomacy or otherwise rebuking each other either personally or publicly. In other words, Hillsong might need to reconsider their guest speaker line up.
As usual Hillsong is inviting yet another disgraced minister to speak at Hillsong Conference 2015. But this is where it gets really bizarre, (and where we need to give Driscoll some credit): he calls out false teachers by name. Mark Driscoll in the past has publicly exposed Brian Houston and Joseph Prince’s friend Joel Osteen as a false teacher.
And from what we have researched, false teachers like Rick Warren are no fan of Mark Driscoll either. In fact, for many years faithful ministers and apologetic experts have rightly expressed their concerns over Mark Driscoll’s behaviour, teachings, practices and methodologies.
Below you will find an extensive list of articles exposing the controversial ministry of Mark Driscoll. We STRONGLY advise our readers to exercise caution while browsing the below material. You may be shocked with the explicit language and rude nature of Mark Driscoll’s ministry.
Mark Driscoll clearly has a bad reputation since ministers, leaders and elders are:
1. publicly calling Mark to repentance,
2. addressing him to step down from ministry
3. and/or dropping their connections with him.
This is incredibly sad to see. We would encourage Christians to pray for Mark Driscoll. Sadly, what’s left of his reputation will only worsen if he chooses to speak at Hillsong Conference 2015. Hopefully Mark will wake up and not lower his standards to that of speaking at Hillsong Conference 2015.

1 Timothy 3:1-13 – Qualifications for Overseers and Deacons
Here is a trustworthy saying: Whoever aspires to be an overseer desires a noble task. Now the overseer is to be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him, and he must do so in a manner worthy of full respect. (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God’s church?) He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil. He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil’s trap.
In the same way, deacons are to be worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain. They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience. They must first be tested; and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as deacons.
In the same way, the women are to be worthy of respect, not malicious talkers but temperate and trustworthy in everything.
A deacon must be faithful to his wife and must manage his children and his household well. Those who have served well gain an excellent standing and great assurance in their faith in Christ Jesus.

Titus 1:5-10 – Qualifications for Elders
This is why I left you in Crete, so that you might put what remained into order, and appoint elders in every town as I directed you— if anyone is above reproach, the husband of one wife, and his children are believers and not open to the charge of debauchery or insubordination. For an overseer, as God’s steward, must be above reproach. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain, but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined. He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it. For there are many who are insubordinate, empty talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision party.

“Mark Driscoll in the past has publicly exposed Brian Houston and Joseph Prince’s friend Joel Osteen as a false teacher.”
But not so much recently …
” “I am aware of the theological differences that exist between our tribe and Pastor Joel,” Driscoll responded. “I also know my Reformed brothers like to treat Pastor Joel like a pinata, but there are worse things than being happy and encouraging at a time when the most common prescription medications are antidepressants.” ”

“Sadly, what’s left of his reputation will only worsen if he chooses to speak at Hillsong Conference 2015.”
Dino Rizzo was scheduled to speak at the Hillsong Men’s Conference in 2012, but he was replaced without explanation. It was later revealed in the Baton Rouge, Louisiana media that Rizzo had quit as Healing Place church pastor after admitting to an affair with a female assistant.
So … I seriously doubt that Driscoll will be on the schedule of the two Hillsong Conferences come 2015. I think something will give before then.
Mark Driscoll is creepy

Hi guys. Sarah from Adelaide (ex-Planetshakers and ex-Paradise). Just joining the blog. Thought I was following but wasn’t.
Hi Sarah – can you give us your story (or an update) from your PlanetShakers experience?
What made you leave?
You might want to check out our other sites as well:

You guys are so smart, I’m surprised Hillsong hasn’t asked you to speak at their conference. Maybe God will open that door for you guys one day once you’re ready! Maybe if you guys grow the blog to at least megachurch size active community more people will take it seriously, and then you’re message can reach the world!!! #yay #changingtheworld #thrivingcommunity
You are right ‘Kenrick’ – the churchwatcher mob are, generally speaking, pretty smart. They’ve managed to catch red handed and call out, at least three major false prophets in our region – Houston, Pringle, and now Kong Hee… not to mention a lot of ‘pastors’ caught out in major and minor scandals both here and overseas.
You’ll also note that none of them have any desire to ‘grow’ anything that remotely resembles a “mega” sized blog/church/outreach or anything else. Now considering the wicked fruits that come from such places, I’d have to say that’s doubly smart.
You may also be surprised to know that, reading the Bible from Genesis to maps, you will see history repeat itself many times over, in that God’s people are always reduced to a minimum (the remnant,) because the majority of people don’t learn the lessons that history has to teach – especially church history…
This is usually because the remnant in each generation, are forced to separate themselves from false teachers, false prophets, fake miracles, debauched activities and monetary fraud – all of which are marketed and promoted, in the name of God by these “non prophet’ churches.
So, yeah – they are pretty smart, and if you humble yourself and listen in for a while, you may learn from them, and so not be a part of ‘history’ next time it repeats itself at Hillsong, C3 or CHC…
Oh and if you’re looking for some examples of the ‘remnant’ here they are:
1. Noah and his family of seven people versus the rest of humanity
2. Joshua and those left over from the wilderness journey
3. Those seeking the Messiah at the time of John the Baptist
4. Those left after Jesus called many to discipleship (eat my flesh/drink my blood)
5. 12 apostles/120 disciples in the upper room before Pentecost
6. Apostle Paul abandoned after Roman persecution – “only Luke is with me now”
(2 Tim 4:11))
…and these are just a few – there are many more –
7. Elijah after the prophets of Baal were destroyed,
8. Those who came back from both captivities (Babylonian and Assyrian)
9. Just about all of those listed in Hebrews 11 – the hall of faith, etcetera… all smart people…
Hello Kenrick,
It looks like Aztec has clarified matters for you quite succinctly, doesn’t it?
It’s sad to see so many people like you who think that God cares about bums on seats; your attitude is a dead-set give-away that you have been listening to men rather than God.
Have you ever read your Bible, Kenrick? If you want to know how things will turn out for those who look to the size of their “church” for affirmation, you should do yourself a favour and read what happened when King David took a census of his fighting men (I’ll give you a hint, it wasn’t at all good). After you’ve done that, you are welcome to come back here to admit your mistake and to apologise to the churchwatchers and their fellow travellers.
“Maybe if you guys grow the blog to at least megachurch size active community more people will take it seriously, and then you’re message can reach the world!!!”
kendrick.. what serious megachurch message would you us like to reach the world with??
1) “Thx for selling your home.. now we can manufacture a 2nd pop star”?
2) “Thx for selling your home.. now we can pay for our 1st pop star’s cd’s”?
3) “Please attend the conference & oh now that you’re here how about donating to defendant #1”?
4) “You can be blessed with a great painting for just $50,000”?
5) “Join us with the pope and we can all sing kumbaya together”?
6) “Think how great a $10M memorial to spiritual leader would look nextdoor”?
nfg
“You guys are so smart, I’m surprised Hillsong hasn’t asked you to speak at their conference.”
No chance of that. Hill$ong only loves those who love the world as much as they do. To be invited to speak at one of their conferences Driscoll appears to have fallen very far spiritually. Driscoll certainly has the love of the flesh (“the cussing pastor” has a well-documented history). Houston loves the lust of the eyes and pride of life. Money and worldly success top priorities in his messages.
“Maybe God will open that door for you guys one day once you’re ready!”
Which God? The God of the Bible or the God of this world?
1 John 2: 15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
“Maybe if you guys grow the blog to at least megachurch size active community more people will take it seriously, and then you’re[sic] message can reach the world!!!”
Seeker-sensitive formula: (positive self-esteem message + music) – (Bible teachings *in context*+ Gospel + repentance) = Hill$ong. The apostles and early churches certainly didn’t use Hill$ong’s formula – Did *their* message reach the world?
Well said thinker – I don’t think that ‘Kenrich’ will be back for more, unless of course, she is a glutton for punishment…
@TF and @NFG
Great stuff fellas – I forgot to mention the rebellion of Korah in the wilderness – 250 men gathered against the servants of the Lord who were consumed by fire – still want the ‘fire to fall’ on Hillsong Kenrick???
“Now Korah the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, with Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab, and On the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men; and they rose up before Moses with some of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty leaders of the congregation, representatives of the congregation, men of renown. They gathered together against Moses and Aaron, and said to them, “You take too much upon yourselves, for all the congregation is holy, every one of them, and the LORD is among them. Why then do you exalt yourselves above the assembly of the LORD?” (Numbers 16:1 – 3)
“How come you churchwatcher people separate yourselves from the congregation”?
(All of God’s NAR people are holy…)
Also, on that occasion where foolish people like Kenrick believed that the majority were always right, the platform opened up underneath them and they were seen no more:
“29 If these men die the death of all men or if they suffer the fate of all men, then the LORD has not sent me.
30 But if the LORD brings about an entirely new thing and the ground opens its mouth and swallows them up with all that is theirs, and they descend alive into Sheol, then you will understand that these men have spurned the LORD.
31 As he finished speaking all these words, the ground that was under them split open;
32 and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, and their households, and all the men who belonged to Korah with their possessions.
33 So they and all that belonged to them went down alive to Sheol; and the earth closed over them, and they perished from the midst of the assembly.… (Numbers 16)
(Perhaps Kong Hee is experiencing that “sinking feeling” somewhere about now?)
Then there were the 23,000 who fell in one day because they ended up in gross sin, due to unforeseen circumstances – because they had iniquity in their hearts… and a plague came and destroyed them all.
Better get rid of that Golden Calf from the Hillsong sanctuary Kenrick – it cost ancient Israel 3,000 dead in one day:
“22 “Do not be angry, my lord,” Aaron answered. “You know how prone these people are to evil.
23 They said to me, ‘Make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don’t know what has happened to him.’
24 So I told them, ‘Whoever has any gold jewelry, take it off.’ Then they gave me the gold, and I threw it into the fire, and out came this calf!” (Exodus 32)
Shame on Aaron – he sounds a bit like the false prophets of today:
“I took all of the tithe money and just threw it into the midst, and out came this false doctrine called “Prosperity”…
Fortunately, the Lord had mercy on him, but don’t you count on that Kenrick and Co. You should know better!
If you think that any of these scripture passages are irrelevant then you need to read 1 Corinthians 10 Kenrick – that’s where the rubber meets the road for you:
“4 and all drank the same spiritual drink, for they were drinking from a spiritual rock which followed them; and the rock was Christ.
5 Nevertheless, with most of them God was not well-pleased; for they were laid low in the wilderness.
6 Now these things happened as examples for us, so that we would not crave evil things as they also craved.…” (1 Cor 10:4, 5, 6)

austin, similar to your 1 cor 10:4-6.. this morning i noticed the same event, but in hebrews..
heb 3:7-9
“7 So, as the Holy Spirit says:
‘Today, if you hear his voice,
8 do not harden your hearts
as you did in the rebellion,
during the time of TESTING in the wilderness,
9 where your ancestors tested and tried me,
though for forty years they saw what I did.'”
my point is this. i’ve wondered “why do those here discern what is going on, when many in mega-churches don’t?”
verse 8 says “during the time of TESTING in the wilderness”.
maybe some brethren in these mega-churches are being tested.
anyway it may sound simple but i never saw it like that before this morning.

Hi NFG – sorry but I missed this comment… it is a dire warning not to despise the grace of God, as Israel were a chosen people, separated from all of the surrounding tribes and kingdoms, with the call of God upon their lives to be a witness and a testimony to the very ‘oracles of God’:
“Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them [Israel] were committed the oracles of God.” (Romans 3:2)
However, they cast it all aside, in wanting to go their own way, and thus perished in the wilderness, never seeing or entering the promised land. Not even Miriam, Aaron or Moses got in… because of disobedience. (Isiah 53:6)
I take this warning seriously, as one given to me, and although the conditions and the covenants have changed, the God who issued them has not!!! (Malachi 3:6)
Malachi chapter 4 promises us vindication, when the wicked will be judged (turned to ashes) and the righteous will go forth:
“1 For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.
2 But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.
3 And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the Lord of hosts.” (Malachi 4:1, 2, 3)
@NFG – funny you should mention Gideon, as I was only thinking of him after that last post. He seemed to do a good job in the beginning – starting off with a small cave dwelling fellowship out in the ‘hills’ district, but soon, after he had gathered some 30,000+ men he moved closer into town embraced the ‘bright lights’.
But then, after an apparently huge victory, in which the enemy retreated back towards the ‘water falls’, poor old Gideon was suckered in by the gold – he did exactly what Aaron did – he asked for people’s gold! Sounds familiar, doesn’t it?
Not just a tithe of it – 1,700 shekels’ worth! And then he came unstuck. Instead of dedicating that gold to the lord’s work, he build an ‘Ephod’ – an idol, and the Bible says that:
“26 The weight of the gold earrings that he requested was 1,700 shekels of gold, besides the crescent ornaments and the pendants and the purple robes which were on the kings of Midian, and besides the neck bands that were on their camels’ necks.
27 Gideon made it into an ephod, and placed it in his city, Ophrah, and all Israel played the harlot with it there, so that it became a snare to Gideon and his household.”
Of course, Gideon is not the only one to suffer from such greed, after starting out so well. Achan is another young man, who would have fought at Jericho, but when it came to the battle of Ai, he came unstuck too:
“20 So Achan answered Joshua and said, “Truly, I have sinned against the LORD, the God of Israel, and this is what I did:
21 when I saw among the spoil a beautiful mantle from Shinar [Babylon] and two hundred shekels of silver and a bar of gold fifty shekels in weight, then I coveted them and took them; and behold, they are concealed in the earth inside my tent with the silver underneath it.”
22 So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran to the tent; and behold, it was concealed in his tent with the silver underneath it.…”
And we all know what happened next – he and his entire family were stoned to death because he coveted gold, silver and a ‘priestly’ Babylonish robe:
“…24 Then Joshua and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, the silver, the mantle, the bar of gold, his sons, his daughters, his oxen, his donkeys, his sheep, his tent and all that belonged to him; and they brought them up to the valley of Achor.
25 Joshua said, “Why have you troubled us? The LORD will trouble you this day.” And all Israel stoned them with stones; and they burned them with fire after they had stoned them with stones.”
Too harsh? Too judgmental? Too ‘Old Testament’? Well here’s another one – a New Testament event:
“5 When Ananias heard this, he fell down and died. And great fear seized all who heard what had happened.
6 Then some young men came forward, wrapped up his body, and carried him out and buried him.
7 About three hours later his wife came in, not knowing what had happened.
8 Peter asked her, “Tell me, is this the price you and Ananias got for the land?”
“Yes,” she said, “that is the price.”
9 Peter said to her, “How could you conspire to test the Spirit of the Lord? Listen! The feet of the men who buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out also.”
10 At that moment she fell down at his feet and died. Then the young men came in and, finding her dead, carried her out and buried her beside her husband.
11 Great fear seized the whole church and all who heard about these events.
Ananias and Sapphire attempted to deceive the saints as to how much they had given, pretending to give their all when they secretly held some back and then lied about it. The punishment for such deception was death…
Beware of Gideon’s gold – and Aaron’s gold and Hillsong’s gold – they are a snare for true believers. It is plain and obvious to see that coveting gold, silver and precious clothes leads to idolatry, and certain death (natural and spiritual death,) and is a curse to you – see James 5:
“2 Your riches have rotted and your garments have become moth-eaten.
3 Your gold and your silver have rusted; and their rust will be a witness against you and will consume your flesh like fire. It is in the last days that you have stored up your treasure!
4 Behold, the pay of the laborers who mowed your fields, and which has been withheld by you, cries out against you; and the outcry of those who did the harvesting has reached the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth.…” (no more Missions support?)
There we have it once more – rich clothes (good Babylonish/Armani suits???) as well as silver and gold, whose value has greatly depreciated in modern times, because of “global” greed…
Searching hillsong conference info and it brought me to this site. Mark Driscoll reminds of the Pastor Kong Hee from Singapore. Currently, he’s being sued by misuse the church funds of 50 millions.
Pastor kong hee also being caught plagiarized the materials which was published 10 years earlier. The plagiarized text were published in two books, “Renewing Your Spiritual Energy in 90 Days” without accreditation to the original authors. Apart from “The Leadership bible”. other works that have been plagiarized, include content by well-known Christian authors Derek Prince, Neil Anderson, Professor Sid Buzzell and Dr Kenneth Boa. Prof Buzzell, a dean of the school of theology at Colorado Christian University, had warned that continued plagiarism may force them to seek legal advice.
We’ve noted the collection. Still Hillsong remain quiet on both these ‘pastors’ that they know rather well. In fact, Brian Houston spoke at Presence Conference this year with Kong Hee.
