Brian Houston, compensation, hearing, Hillsong, Hillsong Church, houston, paedophile, pedophile, protester, Royal Commission, victim
Emotions were raw yesterday in the Royal Comission when Brian Houston recounted his father’s confession as a serial pedophile.
In a 2GB interview yesterday after the hearing, Brian Houston said the following:
“And even today as I was walking out of the commission, I got attacked by a protester who was attacking me because somehow it was my fault.” [5:50]
Yesterday afternoon we received information from Brian Houston’s “attacker” who attended the hearing. The woman was a victim of institutional child abuse.
She states,
“I just went up quietly to Houston and said, ‘You’re a very wealthy man. You probably drive an expensive car. You live in a mansion. You’re the leader of a wealthy organisation, church. And your church offers the victim only a measly ten thousand dollars for being assaulted as a seven year old? You’ve never gone back and offered the victims any more?'”
Another person present at the hearing who contacted us said they could hear Brian Houston screaming within the vicinity.
Houston’s female “attacker” explained what happened next,
“He screamed out, ‘That was my father who was the pedophile! I’m not the pedophile!’
And then he started screaming at me… ‘I’m not a pedophile!’ And then I knew he was illogical, so I walked away. I said what I had to say. But Brian Houston storms up to me and started screaming at me, ‘I’m not a pedophile! I don’t like pedophiles!’
I was very annoyed that he evaded my real question by not disclosing anything about the victims measly compensation and whether he was going to properly and correctly compensate the victims of his father’s abuse. “
The woman did confess as she walked away that she labeled Brian the “head” of the male appendage. As she was sitting down she noticed Brian was approaching her.
“He then got right in my face. I thought Brian was going to bash me and I stood there. Stood my ground. And I was ready to take the blow. I’ve dealt with the heads of churches and religious organisations before when confronted with child abuse. I’m immune to the leader’s out of control behaviour.
The security at the Royal Commission had to drag him away from me. They had to scream at him and tell him to get away from me, words to the effect of “Brian! Brian! Stop it Brian!” As they were dragging him away he was fighting them to come back at me.
Frustrated with him, I gave him the bird.”
When asked what the woman wanted to achieve with her dialogue with Brian Houston she stated,
“I want those victims properly compensated. I know Jesus said that false teachers come to steal, kill and destroy. If Brian Houston or the leaders of Hillsong are listening, prove to your God, His Church and the victims involved, your level of faith: properly compensate for the victims.”

Help!! I can’t believe what I’m reading . Is this really true?? I can’t understand how no one seems to be saying outright that there is a problem here. Brian didn’t commit these terrible acts true I feel sorry for him there but maybe just maybe addressing the congregations and bringing things into the open might be the thing to do now? Don’t know just saying?. If other religious institutions are held accountable we are not above that ourselves. Why has this come to light again….,is The Lord trying to say something?? Can you please help me understand better it’s all soooo confusing !
Yes there is a problem. And it looks like Brian Houston needs some serious counseling. It’s been about 12 years and he’s still having problems dealing with it, and who wouldn’t? He’s as much a victim. But as head of a very large religious organization, if this is his reaction, he needs to step down and get help.
The institution has responsibilities. He was not involved but is responsible for that organisation. Therefore having received benefits and continued the organisation his father started has to face the music on the organisations behalf. Like in any corporation.
Senior Pastors in mega churches are well paid with a new car every year or 2 , a package that includes free medical, super, housing etc.
They are well paid and yet there are hundreds who work in the church for “love “.
There are Christianity teachers taking the gospel to unchurched kids every week and they do it for ” love .”
Mega Church leaders are well paid to make the right decisions.
If he falls apart that easily, then there mustn’t have been much holding him together in the first place.
when problems and issues are dealth with properly, they will come back to you.
i cant believe what im seeing, i was in hillsong church for 10 years. its the best thing i ever did.
to stop going there every week.
something is telling me that Joel A Bell will take over the leadership of the church. i can see it coming.
Oh Yes , are the vultures starting to circle ?
Brian this year preached on the vultures who feed on dead meat and the honey birds who eat the honey.
Is there the flapping of wings at Hill$ong ?
No chance of Brian Houston going anywhere. It’ll be a long time before Joel “Bela Lugosi” A’Bell gets a chance of succeeding Brian.
Newtaste – if this comment from Facebook today holds any weight, Brian Houston is more adulated than ever. I hope he finds some peace out of all this but until he get in-depth counselling, this adulation is just a ‘band-aid’:
“It’s been almost ten years since I was at Hillsong. I haven’t seen a service since. Watching now, & my heart pace has suddenly changed. Many emotions are resurfacing. I see the whole well put together service – introduced by pitch perfect music. Well faded transitions from music to recollection of money, to the preaching. There’s so much being said, yet I can’t seem to get passed everything in between the lines.
This week Hillsong’s pastor Brian Houston as well as other Australian Christian Churches leaders’ had to go through a trial via the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse to determine their actions in response to Child Abuse cases that occurred years ago. Some of those cases were those committed by former pastor Frank Houston, who was the founder of what is now known as Hillsong Church founder & father of Brian Houston.
It’s an interesting scenario to watch a charismatic, powerful man be scrutinized and having to thoroughly answer questions. It seemed like I was actually encountering the exposed version of Human Brian Houston. I have to admit, part of me rejoiced and another part pitied him.
Today he’s greeted in his congregation with a Standing Ovation as a hero of some kinds for everything he had to go through this week at the Royal Commission, and then I wonder…what about all those suffered at the hand of his pedophile father & were either ignored or simply fallen through the cracks of a powerful & corrupt system, who many call: CHURCH.”
Does the good Lord have an opinion on that ?
@Churchwatcher: The standing ovation (despite the victims involved) is absolute cult behavior. No surprises here.
That sickened us.
“Today he’s greeted in his congregation with a Standing Ovation as a hero of some kinds..”
“The standing ovation (despite the victims involved) is absolute cult behavior.”
indoctrinated brainwashed congregations value allegiance to superficial personalities, far more than they value these: human life, morals, holiness and godly character.
when brian houston’s weak ‘teachings’ have gained him this kind of popularity from so many ‘Christians’, it becomes clearer the great falling away will not be small..
nfg
I doubt very much that Joel A’Bell will ever take over leadership. It’s far more likely to go to one of Brian’s sons; probably Ben Houston who is already pastor of Hillsong LA.
Rock Strongo – We can all agree that nepotism is alive and well in the “Evangelical Industrial Complex”?
@Rock Strongo – that’s exactly what happened when Andrew Evans retired at Paradise AOG in Adelaide years ago.
I was there, attending another church – many a senior man thought that he had an even chance of “ascending the coveted throne” but Ashley Evans got that one and the other son got the Planet Shakers’ mantle over in Melbourne…
Blood is thicker than any ‘holy water’ you can muster, and churches are handed down like family heirlooms – I wonder what Jesus will have to say about that one day…
and Jesus said “I will build MY church”.
Hillsong and all the other institutions are simply creations of men.
“The Most High does not dwell in temples made with hands”.
As a victim of child abuse in a church owned boys home in Goulburn NSW, I have experienced first hand the ducking and weaving of all religions. The constant “reasoning” as to why church leaders never went to Police is amazing when the bible is clear, and I quote:
Romans 13: 1 Obey the government, for God is the one who put it there. All governments have been placed in power by God.
2 So those who refuse to obey the laws of the land are refusing to obey God, and punishment will follow.
3 For the authorities do not frighten people who are doing right, but they frighten those who do wrong. So do what they say, and you will get along well.
4 The authorities are sent by God to help you. But if you are doing something wrong, of course you should be afraid, for you will be punished. The authorities are established by God for that very purpose, to punish those who do wrong.
5 So you must obey the government for two reasons: to keep from being punished and to keep a clear conscience.
It took me 38 years to come to a place where I could see God as a loving father and I am grateful that I am finally there. I hope our church leaders start to follow the word of God as it is written.
Well said.
I would have thought that brian would have approached this woman as Jesus Christ did with the Canaanite woman who questioned Him in Matt15:28 “Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt”. Nothing like the real Bible..to expose the imposter.

Brian Houston is completely SELF RIGHTEOUS!
According to the RC report summary, Brian Houston failed to notify police of his father’s confessed pedophile activities, and provided the Hawkesbury Christian Centre church as a hidey hole to harbor him for the next five years.
He also allegedly ‘ran interference’ on the AoG/ACC executive meeting where his father’s future was discussed at some length.
He also offered an identified victim a $10,000 payout (hush money?) to try and make it all go away, but now refuses to even consider any kind of payment/compensation for at least another five victims?
And more recently abused a woman attending the RC hearings in a violent and threatening manner, to the point where security guards had to pull him off of her, a fact that made it onto the TV screens of Australia earlier this week..
Why isn’t Brian Houston already in a jail cell awaiting trial? Why? Who’s covering for Brian – that’s what I want to know?
Have you ever made mistakes in your life?
Potential troll alert #testing56email
“Have you ever made mistakes in your life?”
Yes, once. I used to believe Brian Houston was a Christian.
“Have you ever made mistakes in your life?”
Yes, of course I have, and I have always taken care to do something that Brian Houston has never done. I repented.
@Garry – Brian Hou$ton did not make any ‘mistakes’ – he made conscious decisions to act in the way that he did. His bunch of “yes men” executives were simply ‘following orders’ – just like those at the Nuremburg trials after WW2, but that defence didn’t get them off the hook…
What is needed now, is for Houston and his yes men to openly confess their ‘cover up’ sins, and throw themselves on the mercy of the courts in New South Wales – that is, if they are ever arrested for the heinous crime of covering up for a pedophile.
It’s a heinous crime, due to the fact that the perpetrator is never brought to justice, so there is no closure for past and current victims, and also great potential for more offending by the pedophile, because he has gone undetected by the police and the courts…
“He also offered an identified victim a $10,000 payout (hush money?) to try and make it all go away, but now refuses to even consider any kind of payment/compensation for at least another five victims?

What a jerk.
