The Issues With Hillsong
Rumblings and ramblings in the Royal Commission
Great that you are pointing out that they are ex Hillsong insiders, as the way they went on in those interviews they made out that they were insiders.
Rosebrough and Elizabeth both correctly stated that Elizabeth’s church didn’t become Hillsong Church. There was no take over. The church became part of the Hillsong Family, a sort of free-association.
“The church became part of the hillsong Family”
“Family”, huh? It all sounds so benign, doesn’t it – unless you happen to know that hillsong functions like that other famous collection of families known as Cosa Nostra.
“a sort of free-association.”
As if anything that involves Brian Houston could be free. God’s free gift is eternal life, but Brian just wants to see more money.
It doesn’t really matter whether a church is ‘taken over’ by Hillsong or not. In the case of Garden City AOG, there was a deliberate, deceptive and pre planned take over @Newtaste.
You can obfuscate and distract from the main theme in all of these threads as much as you like, but you can’t hide the fact that Brian and Bobby have embarked on a local and global expansion drive in the last ten or so years. Shame on them for wanting more power over more people (and of course, let’s not forget that the bottom line here is MORE MONEY!!!)
Churches like Garden City are good money spinners, and the way Hillsong runs them (come on now choir, Children’s church, Elders, Ladies – we’ve got to teach you how to ‘do it the Hillsong way’) and the base carnality of manipulating staff and congregants alike by using text messages (???!!!) during the meetings to get the right crowd ‘reaction’ is nothing short of appalling – yes @Newtaste – appalling.
Those people would probably be better off at an Tony Robbins motivational seminar anyway, after all what’s the difference? Hill$ong meetings take on a similar flavour – except for the live rock concert which passes as ‘worship’ in such places. So, for your tithe money, you get a live band, a motivational speaker and the opportunity to line Brian and Bobby’s pockets with more of your hard earned cash each week, when you should be supporting godly men and women both here in the church scene and in overseas missions…
Modern churches in suburbia, who don’t want to lose their own crowd to become the thronging acolytes and devotees of the Hill$ong cult, will do anything (including the emulation of Hillsong type meetings,) in order to prevent that from happening, so they become Hill$ong ‘clones’ to a degree and by default, in the hope of staving off the enivatible end. When Hillsong leadership sees that they are on their knees, they then invite them (behind the leader’s backs???) to become a part of the wider group of ‘Hill$ong “family” churches…
You’ve got to be kidding us @Newtaste…
