Carl Lentz’ recent comment on our website included this statement:

” I realize you hate our church…” [Source]

There are many Christians around the world deeply disturbed by the recent display at the 2016 NYC Color Conference. When Carl says we hate Hillsong, he’s simply showing his ignorance about biblical discernment and the Lord’s call to Christians to practice that discernment.

“Whoever is wise, let him understand these things; Whoever is discerning, let him know them For the ways of the LORD are right, And the righteous will walk in them, But transgressors will stumble in them.” Hosea 14:9

Calling people to repent is an act of great love.The footage linked below is proof of God’s love being demonstrated by these street preachers.

“Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.” 1 John 4:8-9

First and foremost, Christians must preach the gospel to these people – faithfully expanding on the gospel clearly found here:

“Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.

For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. Last of all, as to one untimely born,he appeared also to me.” 1 Corinthians 15:1-8

If you were one of these people being asked to move on, remind Carl Lentz, the senior pastor of Hillsong New York, of the Hillsong world-wide visual “mission” statement.  If asked if you are telling truth – simply state that if you do not do this, Carl Lentz will consider you someone who hates Hillsong. That’s the truth.
