When the story refused to die and the media started to report on it, Brian Houston then decided to respond. We called him out for lying as he was implying that Hillsong leadership had no idea how the Naked Cowboy ended up in the production.

Lucky for all the Hillsong apologists, you don’t have to accuse us of claiming that Brian Houston lied. Lentz reveals to us this time that Brian Houston was simply being deceitful.
“What do you want to know about the Naked Cowboy? … We had a vague look-alike. It was a bad idea… But we like to make issues out of stuff so. Uh- it was our youth pastor. Um- it wasn’t his fault.” [See video below]
Good on you Brian for slagging off at people for perpetuating the story and accusing them of peddling “hearsay and rumour.”
You will notice that Carl Lentz took the opportunity to take a swipe at Christians (disciples/followers of Jesus who who have standards). Lentz clearly did not like being held accountable to Jesus’ standards. But who did he blame for his sins?

The tares in the video make light of something that was/is seriously wrong (having a Naked Cowboy impersonator on stage).
It was not funny-cute then, it still is not funny-cute now. Making jokes about something that wasn’t funny, isn’t funny either.
But these tares don’t seem to care, as long as they’re getting paid evidently.
Lots and lots of spiritual growth happening here-Not. Possibility to demonstrate Christian honest repentance before man and God over a blasphemous sequence on a Christian stage. But no – event is trivialised – other people are the problem for making “issues” about it. Whole issue is laughed about. So the mighty Hillsong machine goes on its same old course.

Absolutely agree Debra! This man is so lost and thousands look up to him for spiritual guidance! One doesn’t have to look far, take Justin Bieber. He has credited Carl for helping him find ‘his faith’ or whatever nonsense but where are the fruits. J.B’s instagram account displays no repentance, no remorse for sin, all I see it wicked, prideful and carnal images from this supposed ‘reborn’ Christian. It’s happening just as Jesus said it would, in the last days men would believe false doctrine and fall away from the true Gospel of Jesus Christ.
