SCRAPPING EARLY YEARS: WRITING A PAEDOPHILE OUT OF HILLSONG’S SUCCESS STORY

Brian Houston’s “success secret” in building his Hillsong empire is not because of his faith in God, or his love for people. Rather, Brian Houston’s success rests solely on his paedophile father (Frank Houston) who founded CLC and then merged his mass ‘move of God’ into Brian Houston’s church before he was exposed for molesting children.

Frank-Brian_Hillsong_CLC_Royal Commission

Face it – Hillsong’s success story is not a rags to riches story.

Brian Houston has deliberately lied to various media groups and the general public about his church’s past, omitting the facts of his father’s involvement with his early beginnings.

The reality is that Brian Houston’s success was founded on the fraudulent ministry of the paedophile Frank Houston. And it took the son of a paedophile to cover up his father’s crimes to merge their corporations to form the successful Hillsong empire. (Read more on the findings of the Royal Commission here.) Of course you will NEVER hear Brian Houston mention this.

The simple fact is this: Hillsong’s success was not founded on Jesus Christ but on lawless men.

SCRATCHING ITCHING YEARS:

Hillsong is not even founded on God, the gospel or the scriptures. The proof of this is in Brian Houston’s own statements to the media.

Recently, Sky News put out a tweet advertising their interview with Brian Houston.

Brian Houston responded with this:

I so enjoyed speaking to @SkyNewsRicho tonight. Thank you for your kindness Richo. So good to get a fair hearing.

Below Brian Houston’s retweet was this comment by “Pastor” David Hall:

So Brian Houston claimed he got a “fair hearing” and Andrew Evans believed this will be “one of the best and fairest interviews concerning Hillsong”. Andrew Evans was the former president of the Australian AOG/ACC before Brian Houston.

57cwcportrait_Andrew_Evans

We need to ask the question, how was this interview with Brian Houston a fair hearing?

Brian publicly lied about his involvement with how he dealt with his father AGAIN in a public interview. That is not a fair hearing. That’s called bias and propaganda. It’s actually brainwashing. A form of cult-control. And the fact that Hillsong and AOG heavyweights were pushing the idea that this “interview” was fair should indicate to readers how corrupt these men really are. And we know Brian Houston and Hillsong have been very seriously pushing a media campaign to tell their own version of the facts in order to cover up what was exposed of him in the Royal Commission.

However, there was one thing that is worth noting  in this “fair” interview. Brian Houston is constantly asked by the media why Hillsong brand is so successful. In this interview, Brian Houston explained just  why Hillsong is relevant and effective:

Brian Houston Hillsong quote itching relevance2

“I really believe that there’s more of a spiritual hunger in Australia then a lot of people realise. I know the statistics are full of negativity about the church in decline. But I think when – you know- genuinely people can scratch where people are itching, the message itself is fantastic. The gospel of Jesus is a great, great message.”

So there you have it. You have the former president of the AOG/ACC still endorsing Brian Houston. Brian Houston, a man who does not know the gospel; who publicly confesses that he and his church are scratching ears; who covered up the crimes of his serial paedophile father and continues to blatantly lie in his media interviews

We are dealing with a “pastafia” that has no respect for God, truth and public authorities.

If you are a member of Hillsong church going through extreme difficulties, know this: you might see the other side of Brian Houston when you reach out to him with a serious problem.

And if you are a victim of sexual abuse in Hillsong, know that the world has more compassion for you than Hillsong leadership.

Late last year, Kerri Ferguson was interviewed by Chris Rosebrough from Fighting for the Faith. She gave an horrific story detailing the poor behaviour of pastors Gary Dench, Ian Treacy, Phil Pringle and Brian Houston.

Because this article on Brian Houston and Hillsong is questioning and analysing it’s history and leadership, this article is not from God but the devil. (That’s how the Hillsong philosophy goes. If it’s good, praise God! If it’s bad, it’s of the devil.)

There is so much to examine in this article which we are sure to refer to in articles to come.

Edit (03/02/2015): Before publishing this story, we were careful about laying the charge that Hillsong pulled the below article.

However, other articles from the Hillsong website appeared to be fine. Our conclusion was that the article was pulled? Just to be sure, we waited two days before publishing the missing article. Since publishing – we have been notified that the article is back up on the Hillsong site. It would appear that Hillsong may have been aware of the attention this article received and perhaps placed it back in drafts until it was decided what should be done about it?

The attached article below was recently published by Hillsong, written by Hillsong worship leader Jonathan Douglass (JD). Not long after they published this article, someone mentioned part of its content on our site and we started analysing it.

Now we’ve discovered the article was pulled two days later after publication. Why?

Did JD inadvertently give us too much information on how Brian Houston ‘controls’ the worship arm of Hillsong? We know that Houston relies on music to influence churches as they expand/rebrand/takeover them into the Hillsong movement. Note the point that exposes Houston’s control:

2. We are about fulfilling our senior pastor’s vision (not our own)

It is so important that as amazing as our creative ideas might be, if they don’t ultimately line up with what our senior pastor and leaders want, then we happily put them aside.

The church doesn’t exist to build our worship teams… our worship teams exist to build the Church!!

This makes sense considering Brian Houston preaches his sermons from the latest Hillsong songs and pushes his Prosperity, Liberal, New Age or Christianity agendas through them. We’ve also seen Hillsong try to make their music appear more reformed in their musical flavour.

So now we ask this: is Hillsong music out to ‘deceive’ people. Why? If Brian Houston’s 2014 Vision Sunday is the standard of Hillsong’s worship integrity, honesty and faith – then God help Christians everywhere!

Houston’s 2014 God-given “Vision” (Part 1): “New grace” scrutinised

Houston’s 2014 God-given “Vision” (Part 2): The Father, Son and “Pioneer Spirit”?

Furthermore, the above quote raises an important question (and this in relation to the upcoming Hillsong movie): Considering the fact that Brian Houston is their visionary senior pastor, why is all the credit and focus on the UNITED band on Joel Houston?

Wouldn’t it be more honest to showcase Brian Houston leading the band since UNITED bends their knee to Brian’s prophetic visionary direction?

Here is the deleted article:

5 Things That Should Matter to a Worship Pastor

At the beginning of a brand new year, I always like to remind myself and ‘take stock’ of the basics, and re-focus on what really matters in every area of my life … my walk with God, family life, relationships, health, etc.  And of course, the basics in my role as one of our team’s worship pastors.

SEE ALSO: 4 WAYS TO CARE FOR YOUR WORSHIP TEAM

At the start of a new year, I re-focus myself on the things that really matter! I always find it a helpful exercise, so I thought I’d share some of them with you!

5 THINGS THAT SHOULD MATTER TO A WORSHIP PASTOR

1. Jesus is leading us

We are responsible for leading people into the presence of Jesus… to do this, we need to know how to enter His presence and be very comfortable there… I can’t get past Exodus 33:14 where Moses’ authentic cry to God was that He would lead him! And Moses would not move unless the presence of God went before him! This is how we should approach every day.

3. It’s an honour to serve

We are servants first… it’s not about what we do! So that means if we have to do things that we don’t want to do, then it’s not a big deal because the truth is that it’s not about us anyways!!

4. We need to get better

Yes, Jesus loves us and yes, we have His grace when we hit the wrong note in a song… BUT with a little old-fashioned hard work and commitment we can get better and minimise our mistakes! It’s not about being perfect but getting better!

The goal is not to play a SONGLIST perfectly, but eliminate as many distractions so that people can connect with the meaning of the songs and encounter Jesus. This is otherwise known as an expectation of excellence! (Read more about Excellence)

Mistakes are allowed but making the same mistake twice… now that should be addressed… (In love) there’s always room to improve!

5. It’s not WHAT you do but WHOSE you are that matters

What we do is very important! And doing it to the best of our ability is also important. On top of these, we must seek our value as WHOSE we are rather than what we do! And we are sons and daughters of the living God that created EVERYTHING… who knows and loves us. When we understand this, it becomes the fuel to do what we do and also means that we don’t make it about what we do, but rather the ‘what’ becomes secondary to the ‘why’!!

These definitely aren’t the only things that should matter to us as worship pastors, but they’re a great place to start!

Brian Houston gospel issue

Evidence at the Commission and various comments on our site have revealed fascinating insights into the dealings of serial pedophile, Frank Houston.

Recently, a commentor shared this information on our site:

I attended Hawkesbury Church (then Hawkesbury Christian Centre) in the early 2000s under its minister Ian Woods, who was then State Superintendent of the AOG and presumably also on the National Executive.

Frank Houston was parked at Hawkesbury after he was stood down and the congregation was told to treat him like royalty. Certainly there was no warning to families in the congregation that we were harbouring a pedophile. He was our National Leader’s father, and a super-apostle in our movement.

Although I do not believe there was a risk of him reoffending, still, what I recall was the total veil of silence that fell over the matter, to the extent that one Hillsong member left the Sunday service when Brian Houston was forced to say something, believing that Frank was guilty of some kind of financial mismanagement.

Brian says that his Father never preached again. I’m pretty sure that’s wrong. While he was with us, he was allowed to preach. Brian is, yet again, a liar.

The New Zealand Herald reports,

Child molester pastor Frank Houston was ‘still allowed to preach’ after abuse warning

Soon after accused pedophile Frank Houston was stood down by his son Brian Houston – who now runs the popular Hillsong Church in Australia – he was seen on TV preaching in Canberra, a witness has told a national inquiry.

Barbara Taylor, the evangelical pastor who told the Pentecostal movement in 1998 its honoured preacher Frank Houston was a child molester, says it took her months to get the church to take the matter seriously.

Frank Houston died in 2004 and had admitted to the sexual abuse of children in Australia and New Zealand.

She also told a hearing of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse that in June, 2000 she had written to Brian Houston about his father saying she had been told “a week after you said you were going to discipline him by standing him down he was preaching and prophetising over people in Canberra”.

Brian Houston wrote to her saying he was hurt by her letter and that Frank Houston was receiving “restoration counselling”.

He also asked her to contact him by phone in future, she said.

Pastor Taylor kept notes of her interactions with the abuse victim, known as AHA for legal reasons, and her dealings with members of the executive of the Assemblies of God (AoG) – the body to which Pentecostal churches are affiliated.

She wanted the matter settled by the church not the “secular courts”.

Brian Houston was national president of the AoG when allegations against his father surfaced.

In late 1998, 20 years after her son told her, the abuse victim’s mother informed Pastor Taylor about Frank Houston – the pastor who was treated like royalty by the devout family.

The commission on Wednesday was taken through Pastor Taylor’s notes recounting her attempts to organise a meeting between AHA and Frank Houston.

She had written to Frank Houston five months after the allegations were first raised and her many attempts to contact him failed. She said he rang and was angry “that I was pursuing” him”.

Pastor Taylor also recorded AHA was extremely distressed the matter had become known but agreed to meet Frank Houston.

AHA told the commission on Tuesday Frank Houston offered him $10,000 during a meeting and asked his forgiveness. Some months after that he received a cheque from Brian Houston.

Pastor Taylor also said she wasn’t kept informed of the actions taken by Brian Houston or the AoG but she considered: “If he (Frank Houston) confessed to Brian he would have really meant it and Brian would have brought him to a place of repentance.”

Pastor Taylor said that at a later meeting with Brian Houston he told her it was a one-off incident by his father and commented the incident was about a “little boy who walked through a room without his clothes on”.

“I took it his father had trivialised the incident to Brian”.

The hearing continues.

Brian Houston Royal Commission hearingAfter Brian Houston’s abysmal behaviour at the Royal Commission and the emerging shocking revelations of his poor leadership over his dad, it was reported to us that only a select few of Brian’s pastors came to support him at the Royal Commission. No family. No church members.

In light of this, here was Hillsong’s response this Sunday morning to their false prophet.

You will also notice that in the above clip, Hillsong edited out Brian Houston’s second statement and sermon. (It appears they don’t want critics to get hold of it.)

In spite of this, the Daily Telegraph reports what was disclosed in the morning session,

Hillsong leader Brian Houston breaks silence on paedophile father: ‘It was wrong not to report him’

HILLSONG Church head Brian Houston told thousands of his followers it was wrong of him not to report his paedophile father to police, but said other senior church leaders also knew and did nothing.

Giving his first sermon at Hillsong’s church-cum-convention centre at Baulkham Hills yesterday since testifying last week at the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, Mr Houston said no one advised him to report his pastor father Frank after he was told in 1999 that Frank had molested a boy in a Sydney household in the 1970s.

Mr Houston told the congregation of more than 3000 that the victim, known as AHA, whom his late father tried to buy forgiveness from with $10,000, did not want the allegations investigated by the police or the church.

“You had a situation where this was the first time I had ever heard about my father’s abuses. There was victim, a survivor, who was adamant he did not want a police investigation and he didn’t want a church investigation,” he said.

“So I genuinely believed at the time, by the way no one gave me any advice to counter this, that if he wanted to go the police, he was 36, he could. Obviously if it was someone who was still a child we would have had no choice but to report it. It seems I was wrong and that will form part of the findings.”

Mr Houston also read out a prepared statement in which he said media reports of his testimony did not give the “full story” and headlines could be “misleading”.

He said paying victim AHA had nothing to do with him despite the royal commission hearing the victim had contacted him about Frank Houston failing to pay as promised.

Two weeks later the $10,000 cheque was delivered.

“There have been reports of money being paid to the victim. Again for clarification, this was between my father and the victim. It had nothing to do with me or Hillsong Church,” he said.

The commission had heard Hillsong founder Brian Houston was national president of the Assemblies of God Church from 1997 to 2009 and in charge when his father was outed as a serial paedophile. It also heard the episodes of sexual abuse of seven boys by Frank Houston happened in the 1960s and 70s. All but one, AHA, were abused in New Zealand where Frank Houston preached.

In yesterday’s sermon, Mr Houston denied the church tried to cover up the abuse.

Exclusive – Brian Houston: “I got attacked by a protester”

Emotions were raw yesterday in the Royal Comission when Brian Houston recounted his father’s confession as a serial pedophile.

Brian Houston HearingIn a 2GB interview yesterday after the hearing, Brian Houston said the following:

“And even today as I was walking out of the commission, I got attacked by a protester who was attacking me because somehow it was my fault.” [5:50]

Yesterday afternoon we received information from Brian Houston’s “attacker” who attended the hearing. The woman was a victim of institutional child abuse.

She states,

“I just went up quietly to Houston and said, ‘You’re a very wealthy man. You probably drive an expensive car. You live in a mansion. You’re the leader of a wealthy organisation, church. And your church offers the victim only a measly ten thousand dollars for being assaulted as a seven year old? You’ve never gone back and offered the victims any more?'”

Another person present at the hearing who contacted us said they could hear Brian Houston screaming within the vicinity.

Houston’s female “attacker” explained what happened next,

“He screamed out, ‘That was my father who was the pedophile! I’m not the pedophile!’

And then he started screaming at me… ‘I’m not a pedophile!’ And then I knew he was illogical, so I walked away. I said what I had to say. But Brian Houston storms up to me and started screaming at me, ‘I’m not a pedophile! I don’t like pedophiles!’

I was very annoyed that he evaded my real question by not disclosing anything about the victims measly compensation and whether he was going to properly and correctly compensate the victims of his father’s abuse. “

The woman did confess as she walked away that she labeled Brian the “head” of the male appendage. As she was sitting down she noticed Brian was approaching her.

“He then got right in my face. I thought Brian was going to bash me and I stood there. Stood my ground. And I was ready to take the blow. I’ve dealt with the heads of churches and religious organisations before when confronted with child abuse. I’m immune to the leader’s out of control behaviour.

The security at the Royal Commission had to drag him away from me. They had to scream at him and tell him to get away from me, words to the effect of “Brian! Brian! Stop it Brian!” As they were dragging him away he was fighting them to come back at me.

Frustrated with him, I gave him the bird.”

When asked what the woman wanted to achieve with her dialogue with Brian Houston she stated,

“I want those victims properly compensated. I know Jesus said that false teachers come to steal, kill and destroy. If Brian Houston or the leaders of Hillsong are listening, prove to your God, His Church and the victims involved, your level of faith: properly compensate for the victims.”
