Jeff Maples from Pulpit & Pen shared this below article of Bud Alheim stating,
“I hate Hillsong. And I can assure you that I love God and the Church enough to proclaim it.”

Bobbie Houston: If You Hate Hillsong, You Hate God
Bobbie Houston, the wife of famed prosperity gospel charlatan Brian Houston, has issued accolades to Carl Lentz for his “Wow. Wow.Wow.” performance on Oprah Winfrey’s Supersoul.tv interview. (You can read our take on it HERE.)
While calling it a “God honoring, Spirit breathed” interview, Houston also took occasion in her Instagram post to comment about Hillsong detractors, equating them to the same level as “God-haters.” If you hate Hillsong – in cult lingo, that means “disagree in any way” – you must also, obviously, hate God. It’s just the typical sort of thing any self-respecting cult would be expected to say.
“…sadly the God-haters and Hillsong-haters and Oprah-haters will be frothing and manifesting…”
(Editor’s Disclaimer: Yes, this article would apparently qualify as part of the “frothing” to which the charlatanette is speaking.)
In a “nana-nana-boo-boo” in yer’ face response to anti-Hillsong types (We at Pulpit and Pen, for the record, call those types … discerning … and, unlike the Houstons, we applaud and encourage YOU.) who correctly derided Lentz’s pathetic presentation that didn’t remotely resemble the Biblical gospel, Houston goes on in her “you can touch this” tirade. One can imagine she had M.C. Hammer jamming as she Instagrammed with self-righteous Hillsong glee.
“…they just need to get used to the reality that Jesus ain’t going away and the Church arising on the earth with clear and beautiful stature, exemplified in love and grace, is here to stay.”
Really? Well, the authentic Jesus of Scripture – which is decidedly NOT the one proclaimed by the heresy hurling Hillsong – definitely is not going away. While worshipers of the false Jesus of Hillsong will incur the same judgment as followers of other diabolically-induced false gods and pagan idols, the real Jesus is, in fact, coming back … with an agenda.
“When the Son of Man comes in his glory and all his angels are with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. The people of every nation will be gathered in front of him. He will separate them as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right but the goats on his left. Matthew 25:31-33
(Yeah. What do they call goats in Aussie English? I’ll have to ask one of my outback friends.)
The apostle Paul gave the Galatians a bit clearer picture of what happens to those who preach a “contrary” gospel.
“… there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed.” Galatians 1:7-8
Given the fact that Lentz’s presentation of the gospel to Oprah was noticeably void of “Jesus”and that Hillsong, though hip, tanned, and chic, sells merely a sexy theatricalized form of the prosperity gospel, we can be certain the key word from Paul’s comments for Hillsong is the word “accursed.” That’s not a good word, either. Not one you’d want a real apostle speaking in your direction.
“We love you but your unrelenting contempt and hatred is only going to make us love you more fiercely. I pray for you.”
Since a bonafide apostle, not a fake one like Houston’s “NARpostle” hubby, cursed those who proclaim a different gospel, we can be sure that Paul would also be counted by her as among those who exhibit “unrelenting contempt and hatred.” Paul, who seemed rather unconcerned about negative comments by others as he preached the actual Gospel, probably wouldn’t be too upset that the wife of a charlatan might consider him hateful. After all, the real Jesus didn’t come to bring peace (Matthew 10:34) but rather to divide with His singular, easily identified Good News. Authentic repentant believers – His sheep – are divided to His right, for instance.
“I am put here for the defense of the Gospel.” The Apostle Paul, Philippians 1:16
But the genuine contempt folks like Paul and discerning believers who raise their voices against the diabolical teaching of Hillsong have is against their deception that has taken captive the minds of those already condemned. The hatred exhibited by Paul’s apostolic curse on false, contrary, different gospels is divinely Gospel-driven and imminently Christ-exalting. The safest – and most obedient – place to be found, then, is standing with him, not rocking with Bobbie, Carl, Oprah, and the heresy of Hillsong.
We pray for you too, Bobbie. We pray that you will embrace the true Gospel of the authentic Jesus and that you will repent and believe.
Otherwise … cursed goats to the left … and a different Jesus and contrary gospel can’t touch that.

Oprah has a history of being attracted to Prosperity Gospel teachers. Awhile back she had some agreement with TD Jakes to have him play a part in her television network. The prosperity ‘gospel’ of the Tares quickly attracts worldly people like Oprah, because it’s a manmade gospel. That is something worldly people like Oprah find easily palatable, very acceptable, non-offensive, and fun fun fun. Just like Bobbie Houston has talked about having fun fun fun doing her worldly Tare stage productions. Tare gospels are fun fun fun to the Tares and to the World.
Oprah also loves Emergent church leaders like anti-Hell, pro-gay Rob Bell.
If an (alleged) Christian leader gets the thumbs up from Oprah then every warning bell and whistle should be playing at 140 decibels (jet engine) in every serious Christian’s mind. The Queen of USA New Ageism would not have people like this blogger stay with her for very long. http://www.christianitytoday.com/pastors/2014/september-online-only/oprah-edited.html
Oprah is attracted to Rob Bell’s teachings on “zimzum” lol.
Here is a Rob Bell quote which sums him and his entire “theology” up rather well:
ROB BELL: “Is the Bible the best God can do? With God being so massive and awe-inspiring and full of truth, why is His book capable of so much confusion?”
If that is not an insulting blasphemous statement to fling in front of God, I’m not sure what else is.
It seems that many 21st century Christians think we have too enlightened and well educated to become deceived by smooth talkers and charlatans. That is our sinful pride kidding ourselves.
If self-proclaimed Christians loved:
the bible more than self-help/ self-esteem messages
truth more than experiences
Jesus more than self
… false teachers like Rob Bell and counterfeit churches like Hillsong would never have gained the influence they now have. False Christians love false teachings. True Christians love the truth.
Yes. The level of deception taking place on the earth is far-reaching and powerful.
Those who have rejected Christ are being completely blindsided by it. They believe in many false ideas such as Evolution, etcetera. Those people have asked to be fooled.
But even Christians need to be careful, pay attention, and test all things. Because so many lies are being told. Not paying attention and testing all things means even a Christian can be fooled in at least something and they has no idea what that something is. Scary.
Is Bobbie really saying that if you hate Hillsong, you hate God? She uses the term God Haters, Hillsong Haters and Oprah Haters in the same sentence but that doesn’t mean she is saying if you hate Hillsong you hate God. E.g. I could say – dog haters, cat haters and fish haters are those who don’t enter pet stores, but I’m not saying that if people hate dogs they also hate cats….
I agree that Bobbie and Brian probably regard anyone who disagrees with them as ‘haters’ but to read ‘if you hate Hillsong, you hate God’ into Bobbie’s sentence actually twists her words.
What I think is alarming about her post is that she goes on to say that (the haters in these three groups) ‘will be frothing and manifesting at the mouth’. This metaphor is means that she thinks people in those groups are evil. This reveals her sarcasm and deep contempt. Therefore, it’s hard to believe her words at the end of her post….’your unrelenting contempt and hatred is only going to make us love you more fiercely.’ Interesting that she accuses those who she believes ‘hate’ Hillsong with showing contempt, but actually shows contempt herself with her sarcastic metaphor.
As for Carl Lentz, he is right – God does loves everybody (For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16) But, Carl should have explained that only Christians have a relationship with God and explained how and why. Perfect opportunity to present the truth, but not taken.
It’s disappointing that Carl’s presentation of the gospel was so clumsy and devoid of essential words like sin, the cross and Jesus, thus in effect, presenting another gospel (which is no gospel at all).
I first saw Steven Furtick’s “hey haters” video years ago on the Apprising ministries blog. It was addressed to Christians who disapproved of his ministry.
Allies of his have used the same phrase. Whether he was the first or whether he just made the (ironically very judgemental!) label go viral who knows….
That’s what made me assume that when church members used word hater towards critics they were referring to those mean, nasty intellectual Pharisees i.e. specifically Christians who dared to criticize poor teachings/ practices, not general critics e.g. atheists.
You can also find the original version on Youtube but IMO this one presents the message in a much deeper and more meaningful fashion. 🙂 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8SLFcOIX_Q
Wow – that video is quite disturbing. And this Steve is a leader of a church? (yes, I know he is) He speaks mockingly, with hatred, for us ‘so called’ haters. It’s disturbing seeing a pastor speak in such a manner. He is against those who dare question their/Hillsong’s ways but we are actually against the false gospel/lies etc, not the people themselves. I think/hope we’d all agree on that. That it is their failure to stand up for the truth of the gospel, not the people themselves which we have an issue with.
Another thing. I just read my previous post again. I now see/realise something. The comment Bobbie made about frothing and manifesting means evil/possessed – which she does link to all three groups in the sentence. As evil is against God, she IS effectually saying that all three groups (God Haters, Hillsong Haters and Oprah Haters) ARE evil/against God/God haters…..therefore saying us Hillsong ‘haters’ are God haters…..so Churchwatcher, you are right. I didn’t see it in the first part of the sentence – so I questioned you for no reason on that one.
That raises another finding – if you ‘hate’ Oprah, you are evil or possessed and are also God haters (according to Bobbie).
